Many things have changed since The Dillard House first opened their doors in 1917. However, the beauty and tranquility of the mountains remains the same. Another thing that remains unchanged is the famous Dillard House tradition of southern hospitality. Pam Thompson, owner-operator of Dillard House Stables since 1989, along with her crew of experienced trail guides strive to keep this tradition alive. Pam’s lifetime of experience allows her the opportunity to offer a safe and enjoyable horseback ride for every level rider.

All persons taking trail rides need to be aware of certain requirements needed to ensure a safe riding experience. Dillard House Stables takes every precaution to pair each and every rider to a horse that matches their size, age, and riding experience. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone we feel would be endangering themselves or our horses by riding.
One Hour Scenic Farm Ride
This ride takes you deep into the Dillard House pastures, skirting alongside the Little Tennessee River. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views, and an abundance of natural greenery.
The scenic farm ride lasts approximately 50 minutes to an hour. Truly a family experience where children and parents can enjoy a relaxing ride together. Winter months rides are by reservation only and you must get confirmation to assure riding times.
The minimum age required for this ride is 6 years old, and costing $65.00 per person.
Departure Times: 9:00, 10:30, Noon, 1:30, 3:00 & 4:30
One Hour Scenic Farm Ride
This ride takes you deep into the Dillard House pastures, skirting alongside the Little Tennessee River. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views, and an abundance of natural greenery.

One Hour River Ride
This is by far one of the most popular rides we offer. This ride takes you alongside of the Dillard House Pasture, then traveling up the middle of the Little Tennessee River, and finally making a loop through lush green forest and returning back through the river. About 1/2 of your ride is actually in the water. Please call ahead during colder months to make sure this ride is being offered.
The minimum age required for this ride is 10 years old, and costs $70.00 per person.
Departure Times: 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:30pm, and 5:00 pm.
1.5 Hour River Ride
This ride takes you deep into the Dillard House pastures, skirting along the outside of the Little Tennessee River and then down the middle of the river for an exciting in water riding experience. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views, and an abundance of natural greenery.
This ride lasts a minimum of 1 1/2 hours taking you on the more adventurous trails that the Dillard House has to offer and allows you views not normally seen by any other means. This is a great way to see all the spectacular views that the Dillard House is famous for.
The minimum age required for this ride is 10 years old, and costs $85.00 per person.

Private rides are available for you and your family or friends simply by calling at least 3 days in advance. Minimum of 2 riders Please.

This ride can be parent led, when horses are available.

Our horses are highly trained to safely carry the first-time rider as well as the more advanced equestrian. We make every attempt to explain all aspects of trail riding and safety management for both the riders and the horses. All age requirements are mandatory, and must be strictly observed for the safety and well being of your children. Please DO NOT try to mislead your trail guide as to the actual age of your child. The age requirements are based on average ability to be able to comprehend handling a horse by themselves. NO ride is worth your child's safety, so please follow this guideline! Our horses are professionally trained, and every safety precaution is taken into consideration, but you must be aware horses are unpredictable animals, and there is always inherent risk taken when horseback riding. These rules are for your safety as well as our horses, please do not put yourself or someone else at risk by careless behavior.
